 "So far I'm pleased." 2010-07-15
By James J. McGowan (CANYON COUNTRY, CA, US)
I have never lifted a guitar, let alone play one, but I'lm trying to learn. The Jasmine was inexpensive, looks great and was easy (after several trys) to tune. The strings, all steel, sound wonderful even to my untrained ear , when played. What a difference tuning makes!
I'm starting out with very simple songs from a "self help" book, which for me is essential.I try to set aside 30 to 60 minutes a day to practice and to learn. I'm 77 years old and having lot's of fun. So far the guitar is great.I hope my enthusiasm continues.

Jim

"For the price it's awesome!!" 2010-06-26
By S. Boyce (Perris, Ca)
I've had this guitar for a couple of weeks now and I'm hooked. Most people have noted that the strings need to be changed, there is some type of black corrosion, and some strings seem to have been overstretched at some point - bumps along the string. Other than that the guitar sounds great! It sounds much more expensive than the 90 some odd dollar price tag! Great size with great, loud, and clear sound. Durability doesn't seem to be an issue - but have not crash tested it yet, lol. Seems to stay in tune okay, have only had to make adjustments a few times. Action is medium to medium-low, it's good for really making sure those chord shapes are proper, while not hurting your fingers, or your playing. A few upgrades may have this guitar sounding like a thousand dollar guitar, but for now I'm enjoying the surprising quality and the deal of a lifetime! Definitely would recommend this guitar to someone looking for an inexpensive beginner guitar for a teenager and up - too big for kids, in my opinion. Pretty sure I'll be ranting and raving about this guitar for quite awhile, at least until my playing matures to a more serious, and expensive, investment level!

"Good for beginners, but that's about it." 2009-11-20
By Eric M. Norcross (NEWYORK)
I'll be completely honest, this is a good guitar to have around when you have no other and it's certainly better than the Hondo I started out on some fifteen or so years ago. But in the end, this guitar really is only suitable for beginners or intermediates that have no interest in advancing. I was amazing by how many good reviews this guitar has. The action is poor (even after my adjustments), the acoustic sound it has is dull. It's promoted by sellers as being one of the higher end "cedar" guitars. Which I find funny, because when I first started playing it, I looked at it and laughed... "what a cheap guitar, it's made of cedar!" I assume that's the reason it has such a dull sound (or soft sound as their promoters would write).

For a solid, vibrant and amazing acoustic sound, you'll probably to spend between 350 and 1000 (us). This guitar goes for 300 [us], and I can tell you, it's over priced. Severely.

 "Want a Gibson?...Get a Takamine" 2006-08-30
By Mario Alberto Valbuena (San Antonio)
The guitar is playable right out of the box. Action is high but reasonable, but the more you play it the more you like it. This is my first, and I love it. Takamine customer service (via email) is great; they would answer any question you might have. The guitar comes with DAddario EXP16 according to them. I did change them to EPX10 Extra Light Coated 8020 and it is a better player. Next will be a good setup by a professional. Get a humidifier; I got the Planet Waves Acoustic Guitar Humidifier System, plain and simple. Get a case as well, I bought the Takamine case that is very secure and keeps the guitar well. I played a Gibson similar to the Takamine, and no much difference but the price. I put both guitars thru a good amp. With no amp, I experience little difference. The guitar stays in tuned for days once the strings have stretched. The wood grain in the guitar is beautiful, it looks and sounds like a $2000 guitar. Don't let people know. Is a Korean made guitar, which tells you that is good quality. With no more to say. Get one, have fun and play it a lot.
